Eden East of Austin, TX has been named among the 100 best outdoor dining establishments.OpenTable, a San Francisco-based company that provides real-time restaurant information and a subscription service used by over 27,000 restaurants, released its list of the Top 100 Outdoor Dining Restaurants in America earlier this week. Eden East, located on Springdale Road, was one of four restaurants from Texas to be honored by OpenTable.

The list (understandably, considering the climate of that geography) predominantly featured restaurants from the Southwestern states and the West Coast. The restaurant, which is the project of chef Sonya Cote, features prix fixe menus and a strong emphasis on local products, offering farm-to-fork cuisine. As a reservation-only establishment, Eden East has become a favored destination for food lovers looking to plan in advance for an evening of seasonal cuisine.

Eden East received the award not only for the quality of its food, but for the comprehensive experience created through its carefully crafted ambience. OpenTable reviewers furthered this thought in their explanation of the criteria behind earning a spot on the list.

“[It] highlights restaurants that offer stunning views, unique cuisine and, above all, fabulous outdoor dining experiences,” a representative from the company explained in a press release regarding the list.

Located on the property of Springdale farm, the restaurant offers an interesting glimpse into one of the first urban farms in the city.

California was the most featured state on the list this year, followed in order by Florida, Hawaii and Arizona. Though Texas was represented by three other restaurants (Saint Ann, The Woodshed and Cafe Malaga), Eden East was the only establishment from Austin to get the nod. The three other aforementioned Texan restaurants are all located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

In order to compile the list, OpenTable collected data from over 5,000,000 verified reviews of over 18,000 American restaurants. East Eden is no stranger to recognition from OpenTable, as it was previously awarded a Diner’s Choice award for Best Ambiance.
