Ruel is a National Restaurateur, Author and Culinary Consultant
BOULDER, Colo (September 30, 2015) – The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts located at 637 South Broadway in Boulder is proud to announce that Connie Ruel, national restaurateur, cookbook author and hospitality consultant will be the commencement speaker at the school’s graduation ceremony scheduled for October 4 at the Macky Auditorium at University of Colorado Boulder.
Connie grew up in her family’s famed Italian restaurants, “Casa D’Amore” and “The Villa Capri,” in Hollywood, California. In 1998, she opened and managed “Laslow’s Broadway Bistro,” “Laslow’s Northwest” and “Malanga Cocina Cubana” which quickly became established as benchmark eateries in Portland, Oregon. “Laslow’s Northwest” was named one of “America’s Best Restaurants” by GOURMET magazine and Connie traveled to Manhattan to represent Laslow’s at the James Beard House. Connie moved to Colorado in 2005 where she developed the unique concept of “TUTTI, a restaurant for everyone” in Lafayette. By 2012, after the successful sale of her restaurants, she authored her first memoir/cookbook “Passions of a Restaurateur.” In 2014 she appeared as a contestant on Food Network’s “Guy’s Grocery Games.” Now with “Follow the Ruel,” a restaurant consulting, education and specialty dinner company, she uses her decades of experience to enhance lives and businesses around her.
“Connie has shared her passion and insights as an adjunct instructor for the school’s Wine Academy and Entrepreneurship courses. And now, we are honored for her to share her story with our graduating students as they make their way from the classroom into the world,” said Kirk T. Bachmann, Campus President of the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder.
