"We all have it in us to create the life we deserve. It takes time, patience, and the ability to learn from our mistakes!"
Award-winning baker and Pastry Chef Kyle Smothers is all about chocolate. In fact, he won the “World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie” contest in Avon, Colorado in 2019!
Chef Kyle’s love of baking and pastries dates back to childhood, when he and his family baked sugar cookies together for holidays. After earning a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts from Keiser University, Chef Kyle began a career that took him around the country, from The Magic Kingdom in Florida, to high-end lodges in the Colorado Rockies, to the Meta Campus in Seattle.
He also founded his own Seattle bakery, Home Economics, which specialized in hand-decorated sugar cookies, laminated doughs, and breakfast pastries. He later relocated to South Carolina to work as Executive Pastry Chef for the University of South Carolina.
Chef Kyle is no stranger to televised baking! He was a semifinalist on the Girl Scout Cookie Championship and a series judge on Buddy vs. Duff Season 3 (2021). His team won Food Network’s Holiday Wars Season 2 in 2020, and he competed on Amazon Prime Video’s Dr. Seuss Baking Challenge.
Now he’s bringing all of that baking skill, competition prowess, and love of chocolate to Escoffier’s online Baking & Pastry program. Chef Kyle says, “I love being able to inspire the future pastry chefs of the world!”
I grew up in Florida, where any Pastry Chef worth their weight in sugar better have a signature kie lime inspired recipe!
