The Austin, Texas campus for the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts recently received the 2018 “School of the Year” award from the Career Colleges & Schools of Texas (CCST). The CCST chose the Austin culinary school from more than 200 accredited higher education Texas institutions in recognition of community service, contribution to legislative efforts, participation in CCST events and exemplary graduation and placement rates.
“Escoffier, along with the respected leadership of Marcus McMellon and his team, lead the way for culinary arts in Central Texas. This award speaks volumes to their demand for excellence in the classrooms/kitchens and of their highly-skilled graduates,” said Valdez.
The distinguished honor was received on behalf of the campus by school president, Marcus McMellon, at the association’s October 9th conference. The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts-Austin prioritizes community outreach and professional opportunities as part of its academic philosophy. Each year, the institution participates in or hosts a number of festivals and volunteer-based events that students can get involved in.
“We love what we do and we’re proud of the efforts our students have made over the past year to give back to the community through volunteer opportunities designed to improve their skills,” said McMellon. Our deep and engaging relationships with the Austin Food and Wine Alliance, Central Texas Food Bank, and as founding members of the Texas High School Cookers Association, are a reflection of the ongoing commitment we have to the community. We’re thrilled to receive this honor and recognition from the CCST.”
