Federal Direct Loans
There are two main types of Federal Direct loans available to qualifying students:
Subsidized Loans: For this loan, the federal government pays the interest as long as you remain enrolled in school. Subsidized loan eligibility is a need based loan that is determined by the applicant’s FAFSA® results.
Unsubsidized Loans: These loans begin accruing interest while you are enrolled in school.
Both of these loan types have low fixed interest rates and more flexible payment options. Plus, you don’t need a credit check or a cosigner to obtain most federal student loans.
Federal Direct PLUS Loans
For this loan type, the federal government provides a direct loan to one or both of the parents of the student to help finance their child’s education.

The Escoffier Scholarship Foundation raises funds and awards scholarships each year to students who demonstrate a financial need after all federal financial aid, and other funding sources have been accounted for.
Merit-Based Scholarships are awarded to students based on their demonstrated aptitude and passion for the culinary arts.
Need-Based Scholarships take a student’s financial situation into account. They aim to help lower-income students gain access to education that may otherwise have been unavailable to them.
Competition-Based Scholarships are awarded to those who compete and/or win food-based competitions.
Personal Circumstance and Location-Specific Culinary Scholarships: there is a vast network of scholarships for more specific groups of students. These scholarships are available to a smaller pool of applicants, so they often involve less competition.

There are also a number of grants available to U.S. military active duty and veterans.
